Although I keep getting junk mail from AARP I have no plans on becoming a fanfic retiree. Chapter 9 has gone through an early beta check (you can thank NotACat for a very quick turnaround) and will be ready for late beta reviewing er... soon.
Chapter 10 is only 10% complete due to the events of chapters 9 and 11. I never meant this story to be so Ginny-centric, but that seems to happen anytime I try to write her. Perhaps that is why she appears so little in canon. Jo would have wound up writing Ginny Weasley and the Harry Potter story. :-)
Just what the heck is going on with the rest of Wizarding Britain? Chapter 10 explains some of that and sets up the last chapters in the story.

This story fascinates me to no end. Looking forward to reading more.
Did I read this right? That this story will not advance much more in years? That the story will basically revolve around a 11 & 12 year old Ginny & Harry?
Im confused.....

So we get a preview of what will happen down the line? How far are you actually thinking of taking the story?
I can't speak for Chatmandu . . .

But being rather familiar with the material, I believe it is supposed to span seven years at Hogwarts. Each year is supposed to be a separate "story" / book. So what I suspect he's referring to is that this year is being set up for the final plunge of chapters.
Note that I'm not the author, and he's likely to contradict at least some part of this. :)

“The Sorcerer’s Apprentice” revolves around 11 year old Ginny and 12 year old Harry. They will not advance past those ages. The next story in the series (title not set) revolves around a 12 year old Ginny and 13 year old Harry.
I am copying Sovran a bit in fic titles. The meaning for the phrase The Lost Tower mutated some between Moshpit's idea and my execution. Also, my idea for the whole series of stories is called The Lost Tower. Assuming I write the whole series ‘cause fanfic doesn’t pay the bills (Note: If I start a story I will finish it), Harry and Ginny will age as The Lost Tower series progresses.

See above. “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice” itself goes through Ginny and her family’s trip to Egypt, and also Harry’s summer studies break. It has to go that far to settle immediate issues raised in “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice.” Not completely answered, just settled.
There are background political and social forces in motion before “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice” begins and they remain in motion afterwards. I see Jo’s canon world as set against that background. My Why essay introduces some of those forces and they are, and will continue to be, hinted at in “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice.” .
I'm glad it's coming soon (as the actress said to the bishop)
Glad there will be a new chapter soon
On my flight from Washington down to Alabama (after visiting with a couple of other fanfic writers and to make sure that my beta is back to full fitness) to my holiday home (I know a very strange place for a Brit to have a vacation place- but it's big and quiet and i can write uninterrupted) i was finishing up a one-shot and TLT came to mind and i was hoping there would be news of an update soon.
It really is one of the few pieces out there that makes someone think and has a plot with many different layers which allows for good analysis
