This last month has been difficult and I've not done even close to what I've wanted. I really wished I had someone to blame, but it all falls to me. It's a pain to take responsibility for yourself. :-)

Part of my job requires that I fly to Europe from time to time when my work group huddles in conference for a week as we try to figure out what's been working, what hasn't, what looks to be coming down the pike, and what we think we're going to do about it -- you know, planning stuff. The conference part was good, the weather was bad (cold and rainy), the reindeer was good (yep, I ate Rudolph :-), and the flights are *long* (17 hours from end to end, counting layovers -- each way). The trip actually went well until I got home. I brought some virus back with me and spent the next 2 weeks mostly in bed trying to recover by sleeping my life away and working half days so my sick leave didn't get eaten up too quickly. I feel close to normal now and it's a wonderful feeling. :-)

So, while I got some reading in, I've not done the writing I've really wanted to do. For reasons I can't explain, "lily's child - ch 3" is over half way thru beta and I can't make myself pick it up. I wished I could figure out why. (I think the answer is next to "Where do thoughts come from?" If we can answer one, we'll also answer the other. :-) Hopefully, I'll jump back on this very soon.

I have managed to write a couple of longish one-shots, including 1 H/G piece. Maybe those will come out by Christmas -- who knows. They're presently in alpha status. I've also managed to take the epilogue of my Harry/Daphne story and extend it so it's like it's own little story. I look forward to finishing this, as it's something I can close out and say "finished" on. Now, if I could just get a good plot idea for "Unchampion-2"...

Can I have the last month back and trade it in for a new one?

Oh, just before my trip, I ran across a band called "The Killdares" who do "Celtic Rock" (in the words of Dave Berry, "No, I am not making that up!"). They're a nice something different. You can find them at killdares.com. You might like them too, or not. :-)

Well, that was a bit strange.

Just last evening, I checked out your bio on FFN to see if there was any progress on "Lily's Child" and was disappointed that there wasn't any news. Great minds think alike ( LOL ) or something.

I'm glad you're feeling better. Several people I know wind up with illnesses after plane trips. Take your time with the writing--after all we're a patient group, at least we are here. I really look forward to seeing your H/G one-shot.

In case you missed it, I wanted to thank you again for your encouragement on my story, "The Milkman's Son". It was one of the reasons I went ahead and finished it.

    Thanks!

    Thanks for the good wishes!

You're also very welcome, I was happy to help in what way I could. I believe it was Robert Heinlein who had the philosophy of "Pay It Forward". Basically, that the best way to say thank you to someone who helps you was to help someone else. I've had a number of people who have helped me, many of them are writers on this site. I like to hope we can all help each other.
