"The Never Fair" is up on Niteblade

Issue #8 of Niteblade (June, 2009) is now up and available for public reading. My story "The Never Fair" is in it, together with Marge Simon's nifty illustration.

You can also purchase the whole issue as a PDF for $3.50, or make a donation to the zine.

I just finished reading "the Never Fair". You have a wonderful way with words. Your descriptions made me feel like I was really at the fair. It's brilliant - Thank you for sharing.

    That's amazing

I had to think quite hard to figure out who and what some of those situations referred to: the "little guy outside the Dakota" took me the longest, and I'm going to have to go and check even so. Thank you for an intriguing concept.

Thanks, Phil. The key to that one is the phrase "favorite singer" in the same sentence.

    An uninformed guess

    Nice

I finally got to read this today. I think I understood most of the allusions, though I would not have understood the one about the musician without seeing these posts first. All in all, it was a very inventive and appropriate way to introduce the fair, which then provided context for Marian's decision. That's what it's about, of course . . . decisions. I wonder if there's another fair for people who acted and whose actions resulted in tragedy.

    Who would go?

    Thanks, Dave.

If there were such a fair, who would go to it?

Say, shouldn't you announce on Metafic about the extra points SIYE is giving for putting you into a story?

I suppose so. I'm always happy to see more well-written parody in the world, and if my remaining shreds of dignity are the price, then so be it.
