Echoes of Power timeline
Josh is presenting us with a fascinating puzzle which grows more complicated even as he provides more information on how to put it together. I've spent years now working through the clues, but I've decided to take things one step further. Josh's story requires the reader to know everything that has occurred or been referenced in the posted material. If you forget some details, you're probably forgetting vital clues. With that in mind, I'd like to begin a basic fact-gathering quest.
For starters, I'm constructing a timeline. Josh gives us dates and times for each scene in the story, and we should use that information. I'm going to compile it when I get the time, but the whole effort would be much faster if others could contribute information as they read the story. All I want to list right now is a date and a summarization of events on that date. I'll keep this post updated, so that eventually we'll be able to see the sequence of events (at least as far as we know and with standard caveats about reliability). Later, if we get Wikis working on the site, we might be able to expand this effort.
Echoes of Power Timeline
December, 1986: Harry comes home from primary school and is abused by Vernon (dream in EoP1:5)
Around Christmas, 1991: Harry and his mentors encounter and kill Quirrell (year is presumptive based on Harry's saying "some four years ago" in Sept 1995. (EoP1:4)
1 September 1995: Harry rides the Express to Hogwarts, interacts with the Weasleys & friends, disables Malfoy & friends, and has conversations with Snape, Dumbledore (incl. prophecies), and other professors. Attends the Sorting and meets Floppy and more students. (EoP1:1-4)
2 September 1995: Harry interacts with the Weasleys, goes to London with Remus, visits the RoR, talks to Dumbledore and is evaluated by him. (EoP1:5-6)
If you decide to contribute, please follow the same format as above. There are lots of events referenced, so if you see something missing from the list, please post a correction.

I think you cheated. You set this thread up before I posted the latest chapter. At least you didn't inject the recent chapter summary with your initial timeline.
I very deliberately started picking dates from the first few chapters, rather than putting in the pre-Hogwarts dates that I knew and was most interested in. So really, I could have started the same thread at any time in the last couple of years.
When I'll have some spare time, I'll start my third read of Echoes and then I'll definitely contribute to this timeline.
I actually already started taking notes during my second read of Echoes since the amount of subtle hints and information was sheerly too big. Though one of the major mysteries has - at least partially - been revealed in the latest installment of the story, I think it will still be important to have an precise overview of what has already happened.
Right now, I think, it would also be very interesting to analyse what kind of an impact the latest revelations have regarding the sincerity of Tom's offer of redemption. If he already knew about Ginny's role in one of the prophesies long ago and started taking action more than four years ago he probably is a few steps ahead of Harry & co.
Anyway, I would love to see a detailed timeline of Echoes on this site, since it would probably spare one reading half of the previous chapter whenever a new one is released.
P.S.: If anyone would like to exchange some wild guesses about where Echoes is headed feel free to write me a private message, we wouldn't want to embarrass ourselves in public, now would we? ;)
