I'm curious if there are any good fics involving Harry Potter and the Cold War.
The Soviet Union completed its collapse in 1991, the same year Harry begins at Hogwarts. It seems pretty certain that a single-party totalitarian/socialist state with as advanced, far-reaching, and oft-times effective a set of intelligence, CO-INT, and internal security agencies as the USSR possessed would have integrated magic into their spy-craft had it been available. Moreover, seeing as even the ostensibly liberated Magical Government of Britain relies on a centuries old system of governance, it seems unlikely that magical Cold War organizations and hostilities would have ended with the fall of the Curtain; it certainly didn't happen that way in the real world. Even the KGB, most well known of the more than eight different Soviet spy organizations that were in operation at the same time, simply reorganized into the FSB and SVR when Russia reformed.
I think post-Cold War espionage and covert actions between magical spy agencies, the arms of governments which have demonstrated an unwillingness to evolve past old prejudices and hatred, is a great fictional setting (as shown in Tim Powers' amazing "Declare"). Anything out there that adds the Harry Potter to that powder-keg?

Having just finished Charles Stross's (what is the the grammatical rule for possessives after two ss's anyway?) latest novel in the Laundry File series, the Fuller Memorandum, my curiosity in this topic has been repiqued.
Ideas or recommendations?
