Challenge #1 Results

The first Cracked Muggle challenge, "Perspectives on Mortality," is now complete. The panel of judges voted in two categories: Overall Merit and Novelty.

The Overall Merit award is based on technical skills, quality of work, and compliance to the spirit of the challenge. The winner in Overall Merit is The Milkman's Son by Miri.

The Novelty award is simply that; an award for the author's creativity and range in interpreting the prompt. The winner in Novelty is Bringer of Death by Melkior.

Judges for this challenge were Chreechree, Jonathan Avery, Sideline, and Sovran.

Also, MetaFic's users voted for their favorite story among the entries. The Reader's Choice award goes to The Milkman's Son by Miri.

Thanks to all of the authors for entering the challenge. Thanks also to the judges for their service. And finally, thanks to all of the users who read and reviewed the challenge entries.

Challenge #2 will be announced soon. We look forward to seeing more great stories submitted for that challenge.

    Congrats!

I hope Miri doesn't mind this quote from her PM:

I have to tell you that it was both a thrill and a bit scary to see the story listed on the site.

How do you feel now? :)

Congratulations, Miri! An excellent challenge entry!

    Congrats!

Congratulations Miri on a well deserved win.

Congrats also to Melkior on taking out the Novelty prize, which is also well deserved. :-)

More thrilled but still a bit scary, Dino.

Thank you so much to every one who read and voted. This was my first online fanfic--actually first fanfic of any kind--and it wouldn't have happened if _kb_ hadn't encouraged me to enter despite my lack of computer skills and if Melkior hadn't helped me with the formatting and posting. Special thanks to both of you gentlemen, you're both gems and not just in your writing skills.

Thank you to everyone that reviewed. Now that the voting is closed, I'll reply to all of them (it's surprisingly hard to come up with replies to reviews I'm finding :-O ). It was a real thrill to get such good and helpful comments from writers who's work I admire.
